This is a point that the game tries to bring up multiple times, but sort of get’s pushed to the side depending on how you answer certain questions in conversations. Because of events that unfold in the intro sequence, Adam needs emergency biotech implants which are installed without his consent. You play as Adam Jenson, the head of security at Sarif Industries which is a biotechnology development company. In this review I’ll, as always, be looking at the story, gameplay, sound design, world design, graphics and art, and the game’s main mechanic on a scale of ten. My few expectations were based on a vague score that, admittedly was high. Deus Ex scored in the top of all the games in my library, position 8 to be exact with a 91. The other very small interaction I’ve had with it was seeing its Metacritic score (the averages of many top critics) that is readily available as a sorting option in the Steam library. My only interaction with this game beforehand was seeing it, or its progeny briefly in a YouTube video somewhere, I honestly don’t know which. Must have!Ģ2h 20m PlayedGoing into this game I didn’t have very many expectations. BUT! If you like science fiction, philosophy, the aesthetics of technological progress and the fusion of man and machine, cyberpunk, visual style in the techno and realism, and you like a good story, variability walkthrough, to explore the world and the games lore, then this is a masterpiece FOR YOU! Even if only a few items from your list of preferences coincide, I assure you, the game is worth your time. The graphics described above stands out from the list of filigree parts of the game, which does not prevent you from immersing yourself in the world of the game and the weak artificial intelligence of the opponents. Overall, a really solid game that I just wish shared more visual and narrative themes with the original Deus Ex (or at least had better ones of its own)ĥ1h 12m PlayedAmazing soundtrack, enveloping and immersing you in the world of the game, a stunning development of the world, great dialogue, elaborate level design with at least 3 options for each situation in the location, variability and solutions to the quests that many AAA rpg games can envy, stylish graphic design, together with fine matching the tone of setting color scheme, hiding the imperfections of technical graphics - this is what you get from the game. The final level is also on par with the original's final level, and the final boss fight feels a lot cleaner than the original's. The new augmentations are really cool and much more balanced than the original's, especially the speech enhanced augment that makes the dialogue choices even cooler. Stealth and melee are a much more rewarding style of play which makes the game feel more dynamic and varied when you're sneaking up on enemies. However, the gameplay is a lot better than the original. There's a bunch of random houses and things to break into that don't really offer that much, while Deus Ex found a way to really link everything together in a meaningful way. The story, while great, is not as grand not sweeping as Deus Ex 1's. Visually, it doesn't look as cool, trading the blues and greys for a more orange colour palette. 18h 12m PlayedThis is a really fun game that lives in the shadow of the original Deus Ex. ![]()
